PLENTY OF RHYTHM AT FLEMINGTON

Eagle Ridge and Rhythm To Spare represent the stable late in the day at Flemington on Saturday.

Rhythm To Spare runs in race seven, the Australian Trainers’ Association Handicap over 1400m and Eagle Ridge is in the last race, the Midge Didham Handicap over 1400m.

Rhythm To Spare (pictured) was only run down late at his last start when runner-up at Caulfield and Mike Moroney is particularly pleased with the way the eight-year-old has come through that race.

“We’ve used Jack Martin to take advantage of his claim and it gets him down on a winning weight I feel,” Moroney said.

“He has drawn a little awkwardly so will need to begin well and then press forward.

“He ran really well last time, albeit with an easy lead, and we’ve kept him fresh for this, we haven’t had to do much with him at all.

“He’s going really well and if he gets away on terms I think he will be hard to beat.”

Eagle Ridge impressed Moroney winning first-up at Sale last month and the three-year-old son of Turffontein has done well since.

“He’s drawn nicely in six from an awkward start,” Moroney said. “He’s fairly adaptable, I think he can either race forward or back.

“It looks an even field and it is a step up in class for him but I think he will cope.

“His work on Tuesday was terrific and the way he is progressing I think he can run a big race and be right in the finish.”
