BIG DAY FOR THE STABLE ON SATURDAY

A big day for the stable with seven runners including feature races at Randwick and at Caulfield.

Vengeur Masque, Radipole and Tribal Wisdom are in Sydney with Rhythm To Spare, Metson, Equestria and Des Moines at Caulfield.

Des Moines is the first to go in race three at Caulfield, the VOBIS Gold 2YO Sires over 1200m where she will be ridden by Patrick Moloney.

The daughter of War has run well in her three starts this campaign and Mike Moroney is pleased with the way she is handling her work.

“She’s coping with this preparation well and while it looks a competitive race as you would expect for the money I think her form warrants respect,” Moroney said.

“She’s drawn get a nice run just behind the speed and I do think with ordinary luck she can figure in the finish.”

Equestria and Metson are in race five, the VOBIS Gold Dash over 1100m with Patrick Moloney to ride Metson and Jamie Mott aboard Equestria.

“It’s a handy race for sure and worth really good money so we are having a crack,” Moroney said.

“Metson has been set for this to chase the big money with the bonuses,” Moroney said.

“He’s drawn nicely and his jumpouts have been terrific so we’re very happy with him.

“We’ve always thought he possessed good ability and from the draw I can see him settling behind the speed and then be in the finish.”

“I’m putting Equestria’s disappointing last start down to Moonee Valley - he just didn’t handle the track at all.

“He’s drawn nicely here and he’s been working very well so if he gets some luck then I will not be surprised to see him run well at big odds.”

Rhythm To Spare has his second start this preparation in the Anniversary Vase at Listed level over 1400m with Patrick Moloney to ride.

“We’ve kept him fresh and he’s really well in himself,” Moroney said. “A little bit further might have been better but there was not a suitable race for him.

“From his draw he can lob just behind the speed and if he can get a run at the right time then he’s going well enough at home to win it if things fell his way.”

We have to wait until the end of the day at Randwick with Radipole and Vengeur Masque both in race eight, the Group 3 JRA Plate over 2000m.

“Radipole has drawn wide which is not ideal and the track has dried right out,” Moroney said.

“We’ve been looking for some moisture but he’s very well and it looks like being a fast run race. The trip should suit him and I’m expecting him to be there at the finish.”

Vengeur Masque (pictured) is second-up and will be ridden by Blake Shinn.

“I thought his run first-up in the mile at Bendigo was excellent and he’s worked on nicely since,” Moroney said.

“I wanted to give him another trip away and he’s settled in well. If they do run along at speed then I will not be surprised to see him finishing strongly at the end.

“After this race he’ll go for a spell and we’re preparing him for the Melbourne Cup again.”

Tribal Wisdom rounds out the day in the last race, the Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs Handicap over 1400m with Kerrin McEvoy to ride.

“He’s got no luck and we’ve finally drawn a nice barrier which will suit,” Moroney said. “He gets some weight relief from the horse that beat him last start which will help.

“His work since has been good and all things being equal then I think he will be very competitive and be hard to beat.”
