RUNNERS IN TWO STATES ON THURSDAY

Runners in two states for the stable on Thursday with Squaw Valley at Pakenham and Bugle Call at Gosford.

Squaw Valley runs in race one, the Maiden Plate over 1000m and will be ridden by Patrick Moloney.

The son of Zoffany is making his debut but pleased Mike Moroney in his recent jumpout at Flemington.

“He’s only had the one jumpout this preparation but we feel he’s better on the fresh side,” Moroney said.

“He’s a horse with natural ability who doesn’t need to do too much. He’s a real athlete and always shown us he can gallop.

“It’s a race with a few chances and while it might be a risk going into the race off one jumpout but he’s a horse with good ability and I’m expecting him to be very competitive.”

Bugle Call (pictured) runs in race eight at Gosford, the Benchmark 69 Handicap over 2100m where he has drawn barrier three and to be ridden by Corey Brown.

The five-year-old is racing consistently and finished third over 2100m at Hawkesbury at his last start.

Thursday’s race is a step up in grade however, the son of Tavistock gets a healthy drop of 4.5kg on his last start.

“He’s racing well and the weight drop will help,” Moroney said.

“From the barrier he should be able to be on the lead and the soft track will not harm his chances either.

“It is a bit of a step up in class but he’s on the minimum in a small field and you know he’ll run the trip right out.”
