EQUESTRIA IMPRESSES AT BENDIGO

A bigger and stronger version of Equestria led all the way to score an impressive win at Bendigo on Tuesday.

The three-year-old took on older horses in the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1100m and gave nothing else a chance, making all the running under Patrick Moloney.

“He’s come back bigger and stronger and I was always confident he would get the job done today,” Moloney said.

“His jumpouts had been excellent leading into this and the race fell perfectly for us.

“He was able to land in front and then dictate comfortably.”



Moloney feels there is more to come from the son of Your Song. purchased as a yearling at the Melbourne Premier Sale by Paul Moroney for $115,000.

“He’s given every indication he’s up to city level - he’s does everything right and got plenty of scope about him,” Moloney said.

“He’s still improving and Mike and the team have done a terrific job with him, raising the bar slowly.

“He can maybe improve again on a softer surface but he was too classy for them today.”

Mike Moroney was impressed with the way Equestria accelerated off the lead.

“He really quickened up after flying the gates and he did that easily,” Moroney said.

“We’ll try and find a three-year-old race for him in the city now at mid-week level.

“I’d like to think he can get to a better class of race but we will space his races and take him along quietly.”
