RUNNERS IN TWO STATES ON TUESDAY

Runners in two states for the team today with Bugle Call in New South Wales and Little Rock at home in Victoria.

Bugle Call (pictured) runs in race eight at Wyong, the Benchmark 65 Handicap over 2100m where he will be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy and jump from the outside barrier seven.

The five-year-old son of Tavistock is getting closer to a win, having finished runner-up over 1912m at Kilmore at his last start on February 1.

“The distance suits him and he is as fit as he can be,” Mike Moroney said.

“It does look a competitive race, despite the small field, and the outside barrier is not ideal but I’m expecting him to run well.

“He’s got a little bit to find on the official ratings but against that he is getting good weight relief from those above him so with ordinary luck he should be competitive.”

Little Rock has her second run this campaign in the second race at Sale, the Open Maiden over 1419m with Patrick Moloney to ride and jumping from barrier five.

The Fastnet Rock three-year-old got tired late when resuming over 1100m at Ballarat last month but is a fitter filly now.

“I must admit I was a little bit disappointed with her first-up run but she has improved noticeably since then,” Moroney said.

“She travelled nicely but was unable to quicken when Patrick asked her to go but she’s out to 1400m now.

“It’s a nice stepping stone for her as I think she’ll want further – her work on Saturday was excellent and she’s starting to work the caper out.”
