LOUISVILLE LIP WALKS THE TALK

Louisville Lip was wayward but still good enough to land his Maiden win at Bendigo on Saturday at just his second start.

Settled on the lead by Jason Benbow, Louisville Lip was first for home but beginning to hang away from the rail and giving Benbow a hard ride.

Halfway up the straight Louisville Lip hung right but was clear of the field and despite losing lengths heading towards the outside rail had enough in hand at the end of the 1600m to score over Garifullina by a short half head at odds of $41.

The three-year-old son of Ocean Park has always shown ability and Mike Moroney is delighted to get the win out of the way.

“He’s always shown us a bit, it’s just been getting him to try and relax,” Moroney said.

“He relaxed in the visor but then hung away from the rail and nearly threw the race away so we just need to keep working on the mental aspect.

“He’s got the ability and Jason did a great job to keep him going forward so all round it’s satisfying to get the win.”
