1.27 p.m. R2 7 Scorch (2 f Sizzling – Blackmail, by Strategic) – Jake Bayliss; given time since a solid debut effort for second in the 2YO 1100 metres on 6 December at Pukekohe, she contests the $22,500 2YO 1200 metres from barrier six. Good through the line on each occasion in two trials prior to racing, the form around her is good and she just requires the right sort of trip to prove competitive. Fixed odds: $11.00 & $2.30.

2.47 p.m. R4 3 The Boy Wonder (3 c Cape Blanco – Keep the Passion, by Keeper) – Jake Bayliss; stepped up in distance with a strong second in the 3YO Salver (Listed, 2100m) here on 17 December, and prior to the $100,000 Waikato Guineas (Gr. 2, 2000m) on 6 February he contests the $25,000 3YO 1500 metres. He was a second up winner over a mile in November at Te Rapa, and using this race as a stepping stone should still race well. Fixed odds: $6.20 & $1.65.

3.12 p.m. R5 8 Ruby Armani (5 m Makfi – Trujillo, by Saint Ballado) – Jake Bayliss; was back in the winning groove with a polished performance in the Rating 70 1400 metres on 15 December at Tauranga, after finishing solidly in the Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (Gr. 2, 1400m) on 25 November at Pukekohe. Drawn barrier six in the $35,000 Rating 85 1400 metres, two previous course attempts in stakes races, she carries minimum weight (54kgs) and brings the right form to produce another bold performance. Fixed odds: $8.20 & $2.60.
