LION AND COUGAR ON THE PROWL

Crafty Lion and Uber Cougar are the stable representatives on a good track at Warrnambool on Tuesday.

Crafty Lion is the first to go in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1700m with Jordan Child to ride.

Last over 1400m at Wodonga when first-up on November 24, the son of Mastercraftsman has taken good improvement from the run according to Mike Moroney.

“He’s really come on for the run, is back onto his feed and has definitely improved,” Moroney said.

“The distance of this race might be a tad on the short side for him but the way he has come on makes me think he will run a nice race.

“I do think that wherever he does here he will improve on but I’m thinking he should in the first four with ordinary luck and a win will certainly not surprise.”

Uber Cougar (pictured) runs in race seven, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 2394m and Moroney believes the daughter of Shocking is now up to a suitable distance.

“We’ve been waiting to get her out over a trip and after three runs back this campaign she’s there,” Moroney said.

“We’ve decided to ride her forward and put her into the race.

“Her work has been good and she’s fit enough now. There doesn’t look a huge amount of depth in the race so with the change in tactics and getting to her right trip I think she’s a winning chance.”

Jordan Childs will ride Uber Cougar.
