BATTLE ZONE RESUMING ON FRIDAY

Battle Zone is the only runner for us in Australia on Friday when he resumes at Moe.

The five-year-old runs in race eight, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1600m.

Battle Zone is a winner at 2400m and Mike Moroney feels the race on Friday is a good kick-off point to this new campaign.

“It is probably going to be a bit short for him but he’s very well in himself,” Moroney said.

"The small field helps and we’ve taken advantage of Jordan Grob again to take some weight off his back."

Battle Zone has not raced since September when he disappointed on a soft track at Sale at the end of a preparation.

Moroney said the race on Friday was not the strongest he has seen.

“There’s a little bit of current form in the race but it doesn’t look the strongest," Moroney said.

“It’s a good place to start him off as we head into the summer and I will not be surprised to see him hitting the line well.”
