METSON TO KEEP STABLE RUN GOING

Five winners from the last 11 runners for Ballymore Stables and Metson bids to make it six at Bendigo on Wednesday.

Metson runs in race seven, the Benchmark 64 Handicap for three-year-olds over 1300m where he will be ridden by Patrick Moloney.

“We’re very happy with him,” Moroney said. “He’s had a little break between runs and he’s trained on very nicely.

“His gallop on Saturday was excellent when he had a solid hitout.”

Metson finished third behind subsequent Group 3 winner Eptimum last start at Bendigo over 1100m on October 11.

Moroney said the stable has had Wednesday’s race in mind for the son of Canford Cliffs for weeks.

“It does look a nice race for him. The distance suits, he’s drawn nicely and with VOBIS and VOBIS Gold bonuses available the prizemoney is excellent,” Moroney said.

“He seems to be coping well through the preparation and I think with even luck in the race he should be the horse to beat.”
