RUNNERS IN TWO STATES ON WEDNESDAY

Four runners for Ballymore Stables in two states on Wednesday.

Barthelona, Born To Fight and Lord Barrington (pictured) run at the metropolitan meeting at Mornington while Milwaukee is in Sydney for the meeting at Canterbury.

Milwaukee resumes in the sixth race, a Benchmark 77 Handicap over 1250m, scheduled to start at 3.45pm local time.

Milwaukee has drawn the outside in a field of 10 and Mike Moroney has one concern about the race.

“He’s a relaxed sort of horse and has travelled up well,” Moroney said. “The one concern I have is the draw - I’d have liked to see him inside some horses in his first go right-handed.

“He’s done some work at Flemington going right-handed and got along well. That said he’s got a lot of gate speed and if he flies the gates then he can cross.

“We’ve claimed with Blaike McDougall and the horse is forward enough off a couple of jumpouts and we're expecting him to be very competitive.”

Born To Fight is the first to go at Mornington in race six where he contests another valuable VOBIS Gold race, a Benchmark 64 for three-year-olds over 1200m.

“He’s trained on super since the last win and the prizemoney is terrific again,” Moroney said.

“It’s a stronger race but we can’t fault him going into the race.

“It’s hard to line up some of the opposition but I’m very happy with the way our horse has trained on and provided he can cope with the tight track I think he’s a winning chance again.”

Lord Barrington resumes in the seventh race over 1000m, a Benchmark 84 scheduled to jump at 4.30pm local time.

“He’s drawn nicely and he has speed so if we need to we can ride him forward but it’s a nice race for him to start off,” Moroney said.

“We’ve been very pleased with his work and his jumpouts and there’s no reason why he can't be in the finish with even luck.”

Barthelona runs in the last race of the day, a Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1200m where he has drawn barrier 11.

“I think the trip is better for him now he’s a bit older,” Moroney said.

“It’s a big field and competitive as you would expect but our horse has trained on well and improved from his last start so he’s there to run a good race.”
