THE DELPHI KICKS OFF SPRING CAMPAIGN ON THURSDAY

The Delphi commences his three-year-old campaign at Sale today and has struck what looks a strong race.

The Delphi is the second race, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1212m and he will be ridden by Patrick Moloney and jump from barrier one.

The son of Makfi showed talent on debut last April when runner-up at Ballarat and Mike Moroney is looking forward to getting him started.

“I’m very pleased with the way he has come back from his spell and developed physically,” Moroney said.

“His jump outs have been very good and his work leading into this race has been first rate so I’m expecting him to run well.

“There are some unkown first starters in the race and as you would expect at this time of the year, many of these type of races are full of promising horses and this race today looks no different.”

Moroney expects The Delphi to be better over further than the distance of today’s race and has added a nose roll to help him concentrate as he learns his craft.

“The inside draw might not be an advantage but I’ll ask Patrick to ride him how he jumps and then he’s going to need luck to find some room in the home straight,” Moroney said.

“We do like him as a horse and with even luck today expect to see him finishing on well.”

The Delphi’s race is scheduled to jump at 1.30pm (aest).
