IT'S A HEAVY TRACK AT PUKEKOHE ON SATURDAY

Resurrect and Fortaleza represent the stable at Pukekohe on Saturday.

Resurrect runs first in race four, the Wharfe Bros Handicap over 1200m, and scheduled to jump at 2.05pm local time on a heavy(11) track.

Co-trainer Pam Gerard says the conditions will suit Resurrect ideally.

“It hasn’t stopped raining all week and it will be very testing,” Gerard said.

“It’s good to have Matt Cameron back on. He won on him a couple of starts back and suits him.

“From barrier one the track could be cut up by the time his race is run but he’s got good gate speed and with the drop back in distance we’ll just let him find his feet and ride him where he’s happy.”

Resurrect (pictured) won over 1200m at Pukekohe in June on a heavy(10) and with Matt Cameron in the saddle.

Gerard is expecting a fast run race which will suit Resurrect.

“Ideally he can get a nice tow into the race and then not hit the front too soon,” Gerard said.

“It’s a handy race with some decent form in it but his work this week was very good on Tuesday and we are very happy with him.”

Fortaleza runs in race five, the Haunui Farm Maiden Handicap over 1400m at 2.40pm local time.

Matt Cameron will also be riding the mare and Gerard is delighted with the booking but not so much the weather.

“Very pleased to have Matt back on her, he was on her when she was stakes placed at Trentham as a two-year-old and knows her well,” Gerard said.

“Unfortunately for her the rain is not so good but we hope she can get through it - she has galloped on some heavy tracks here at Matamata.

“That said, if she runs up to her work we think she can right in the finish.”
