Another Americain?

With the recent success of international horses – such as Americain, impressive Melbourne Cup winner – Paul Moroney last week headed to the UK and Europe in search of staying prospects.

At his last trip securing the high class mare Fairfield Flame, Paul is a world renowned judge of thoroughbreds – his record of purchasing over 40  Gr.1 performers respected throughout the racing world.

Amongst his tally are the high class gallopers Xcellent, Second Coming, Brew, Sarrera, Thesecondmortgage, Divine Rebel... and VRC Oaks heroine Brazilian Pulse (pictured above).

Putting hours of careful research in before his trip, Paul is pouring over pedigrees and watching hours of videos in effort to pinpoint which horses are the ones to go after.

Every Australian owner dreams of having a Melbourne Cup runner and what better way than to join forces with Ballymore – Michael Moroney having prepared the 2000 Cup hero Brew.

"It was a good time to buy in the northern hemisphere," Michael said. "The UK economy is still in recovery mode and our dollar is very strong."
