TRIO OF ELLERSLIE RUNNERS

We kick off with Our Showgirl in the Ellerslie’s Irish Raceday 27th May 1200m with Shaun McKay aboard jumping from barrier 13.

After recent conditions holding this Ego filly up with regards to getting a start, we are keen to see her relax in the running and find her feet to secure a handy position just in behind the pace with a bit of space around her.

She does meet some form in the race but she couldn’t be more race-ready herself and her lead-up work has been exciting.

There is no doubt she is still learning her craft and has plenty of improvement left in her – but if she brings her best self today and gets some luck in running, we think she’s an each way chance.

Saffron Lady then lines up in the Madison Qualitex 1600m event over 1600m with Craig Grylls aboard jumping from barrier 14.

Looking for a repeat performance of her fantastic last start win at Tauranga, she is well weighted and depending on how well the track holds up, the wide barrier draw may just not be too much of a hindrance.

We would like to see her jump out and settle mid-field before using her turn of foot to come over the top of her rivals on the line. She does meet plenty of form but everything points towards her being competitive here today and with some luck in running a winning shot.

Lastly we see Dreamcrafter (pictured) take her place in the Grp.2 Valachi Downs Championship Stakes (2100m) with Michael Coleman aboard jumping from barrier 1. Track conditions are not ideal and we hope the inside draw doesn’t work to her detriment at that stage of the day.

She meets a very smart field with plenty of form through it and will have to be on top of her game, but she certainly comes into this race fit and ready to go.

The key to her success is keeping her settled in her prelim and in the early stages of the race. We would like to see her use that barrier draw to position in and relax just behind the leaders and do her best work to the line.
