MILWAUKEE REWARDS PATIENCE WITH DOMINANT STAKES WIN

Mike Moroney’s patience was rewarded in abundance on Saturday when Milwaukee (3g Fastnet Rock x Hummingbird, by Galileo) stormed home with a sensational win in the $150,000 Bendigo Guineas (1400m) under the guidance of stable rider Patrick Moloney.

A last start winner at Pakenham, Milwaukee flew the gates and was given the positive front-running ride Moroney was looking for. Effortlessly outclassing his rivals, he cranked up the gears in the home straight to power home on the line in fine style by two and a quarter lengths – registering his third win from seven starts with prize money topping $120,000.

For Moroney, it is thrilling to see his patience pay off. Milwaukee is still a work in progress, but Moroney does know a good horse when he sees one and this is certainly one he has high hopes for, “He ticks a lot of boxes for me. He has always showed promise, though there is no doubt, he has taken time to mentally mature. He has top-quality attributes that point towards him having a very exciting future ahead of him – his outstanding ability, his attitude towards his work and his fantastic nature. The son of Fastnet Rock was a 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions purchase, selected by Paul Moroney Bloodstock from the draft of Coolmore Stud, and carries the familiar colours of long-term supporter of the stable Rupert and Cheryl Legh.
