ANOTHER BUSY WEEKEND

We kick off today at Mornington with two runners. Strike Force backs up after coming through his gutsy win last week in tremendous order; lining up in the Mitavite Challenge Final over 1600m in the exceptionally capable hands of stable rider Patrick Moloney. Looking at the form running through the field, this looks one this galloper can win.

The nice barrier draw of 5 and his ability to race on the speed should negate any doubts about him going up in the weights.

Vengeur Masque starts in the listed Ladbrokes Mornington Cup over 2400m, again with Patrick Moloney aboard. He comes up in class here but is down in the weights, and from what we have seen of this galloper’s spring form, he is up to this company.

The son of Monsun jumps from barrier 1 and can race close to speed which will assist on this track. We’d like to see him cosy in just in behind the pace and find his gears in the straight to find the line solidly.

Over at Rosehill, Alaskan Rose (pictured) is looking for her first group win in the Ascend Sales Trophies Emancipation Stakes over 1500m. Glyn Schofield takes the ride with a jump from barrier 10.

The weight scale does make this an even race and she has form on soft tracks; though this track comes up particularly heavy and there is a question mark as to how she will get through the ground.

This daughter of Enconsta De Lago does come in fantastic order, is working terrifically right handed and will have blinkers on for the first time. The wide barrier draw may just be an advantage here.

Moving into Sunday, we have two runners at Ballarat. Firstly, San Vincenzo lines up in the Bond Homes Maiden Plate event over 1400m under the guidance of Patrick Moloney jumping from barrier 4.

He is a mile plus type, though looking at his ability and the form through the field, this looks a race this galloper can win. The key to success for this son of So You Think is getting into the running and relaxing up in front on a quick tempo.

To round the weekend up, we see We’ll Meet Again in the Bartlett Maiden Plate over 1600m with Patrick Moloney aboard from a barrier 5 draw. This looks a nice race for this galloper against a field whose form isn’t too strong. He is still green, but has taken plenty of improvement from his last run. If he can bring that improvement to the party on raceday, we expect he would be hard to beat.
