IT’S NEW ZEALAND OAKS DAY

We head to New Zealand Oaks Day at Trentham with two on the truck. First-up is Ali Baba who lines up in the first race on the card, the Chanui – New Zealand’s Favourite Tea and Biscuits Premier over 1600m with Michael Coleman aboard. He does meet some form in this field, though does come into this race on the back of a good win in quality company and when this son of Savabeel is on his game he is certainly up to this grade.

In the feature race of the day, the Group 1 Wellfield New Zealand Oaks over 2400m, Dreamcrafter (pictured) lines up with Mark Du Plessis aboard – who knows her very well. She meets a strong field, though this daughter of Mastercraftsman has showed us she is well and truly up to the task at hand and pleasingly, everything seems to have fallen in place beautifully in the lead-up to this event. We anticipate that this talented, tough, determined filly can get a nice run in transit from barrier 7 and hit the line strongly.

Closer to home, over at Te Rapa, we have just the one starting - Keep On Coming - in the Cal Isuzu race over 1400m under the guidance of ‘Ice Man’ Grant Cooksley. This is a drop back in trip for this daughter of Shamoline Warrior who jumps from barrier 1. She wasn’t her best-self last time out on a wet track following a false start – we do feel circumstances on the day contributed and we are looking to build her confidence back up over this shorter trip.
