Ballymore Sees Out 2016 on Winning Note

It was great to see out the New Year in winning fashion courtesy of Loyalty Man (pictured) and Shadow Fighter taking out their respective races in the final days of 2016, and both look to have to goods to carry on with bright futures ahead.

It was a sweet result for the connections of Loyalty Man, after being scratched at the barriers at his previous start, and the son of Fastnet Rock illustrated genuine class defeating a strong field in the $100,000 TAB Rewrds Handicap over 1550m at Canterbury.

“It was a great effort, ridden superbly by Glyn Schofield, and it was great to see him back in the winner’s circle after being late scratched previously,” trainer Mike Moroney said.

Loyalty Man has now won over $230,000 in prize money and boasts an impressive race record of six wins, a second and three thirds from only 15 career starts to date.

The second winner was the lightly tried Shadow Fighter who took honours in the Yarra Valley Toyota BM64 Handciap over 1212m in the hands of stable jockey Patrick Moloney.

“He won very well and could be something special,” Moroney said.

The classy son of I Am Invincible was impressive winning by 2.25 lengths and run nearly two seconds faster than one of the earlier events on the card, and that was following the storm which saw the track downgraded.

Shadow Fighter has now won two of his three race day appearances.

Both Loyalty Man and Shadow Fighter were purchased by Paul Moroney Bloodstock as yearlings.
