Tivaci to cap off consistent form in Group One

The highly consistent Tivaci (pictured) will be out to cap off some ultra-consistent form of late when he takes on a strong field in the Group 1 Cantala Stakes over 1600m on Saturday at Flemington.

After producing a gallant performance last outing over the same distance, running third in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap, Tivaci looks better for the run and prime to see out another strong mile.

“His last run was super, despite receiving some buffering down the straight, and he’s trained on well – we couldn’t be happier with him,” trainer Mike Moroney said.

“He’s well weighted, but has drawn awkwardly, so we’re hoping for a little bit of luck from the gate. If he gets a good run they’ll know he’s there.”

Tivaci will be ridden by regular rider Patrick Moloney and will have to overcome the wide barrier draw of 13.

Pakenham’s night meeting will see two runners including the talented Wichita Woman who takes her place in the Class 1 Handicap event over 1600m with Patrick Moloney to ride.

“We’re very happy with how she’s trained on since her first up run and we think with the right run in transit she will be hard to beat,” Moroney said.

“Her last run didn’t give us a great line on her, but today’s race certainly will, and we just hope the track doesn’t receive any further rain.”

The second runner on the program is second starter Mojestic who looks a good chance of running in the money after Moroney reported the three-year-old filly was heading in the right direction since her first up start.

“We’re really happy with how she’s trained on, she’ll appreciate a little give in the ground, but we just need some luck from the wide draw.”

“If she had drawn a gate, I thought she would stand as a very good each way chance.”

Mojestic lines up in the maiden three-year-old plate over 1400m and will also have the services of stable rider Patrick Moloney.
