Eyes On Bonecrusher for Savile Row

Impressive debut winner Savile Row (pictured) will take part in his first event as a three-year-old on Saturday when he meets a strong field in the Group 3 Bonecrusher Stakes over 1400m at Ellerslie on Saturday.

To be ridden by Valachi Down’s appointed jockey Sam Collett, Savile Row pleased Mike Moroney and Pam Gerard with an encouraging trial at Te Teko last month and opted to bypass the Listed event at Ruakaka and head directly to Ellerslie.

“He’s a strong well put together individual that still has plenty to learn and untapped potential,” co-trainer Pam Gerard said.

“We’re not sure what to expect first up over 1400m but we couldn’t be happier with the order he is in.”

The son of Makfi lines up against strong opposition, although having performed on rain affected tracks previously, he may be able to get through the going better than some of his more experience rivals.

“We’re not convinced he wants a wet track – I think he just might be good enough to get through the heavy ground better than most.”

Savile Row holds a nomination for the Group 1 2000 Guineas in November.
