Ruby Armani to Resume at Taupo

Talented and lightly tried mare Ruby Armani (pictured) will compete in her first race since late last year when she lines up in the Rating 65 El Roca Sprint over 1000m at Taupo tomorrow.

By inform sire Makfi, Ruby Armani raced competitively against the county’s best three-year-old’s of last season finishing by small margins behind horses such as Valley Girl, Alamer, Dukedom, Ruud Not Too and Summer’s Day and beating the likes of What’s The Story, Thunder Down Under, Ragu, Coldplay and more.

“She’s very well in herself and has come to hand nicely this time in – we’re pretty happy with her,” co-trainer Pam Gerard said.

“It’s been a while between races, and she’ll take plenty of benefit for the run either way, but we are hopeful of a forward showing."

Ruby Armani will be ridden by senior jockey Cameron Lammas and has drawn barrier five.

The second runner for the weekend will be last start winner Resurrect who will head down the line to tackle Saturday company in the Rating 65 event over 1200m at Taranaki.

To be ridden by Jonathon Parkes, Resurrect will have to do everything right if he’s any chance of entering the winner’s circle again, but co-trainer Mike Moroney and Pam Gerard are confident of a more relaxed showing.

“He can be a little keen in the running, but we’d never seen him run around like he did (last start), but he’s much better for the outing and is heading the right direction.”

“For a horse who is bred to stay, he possesses a good amount of early speed and once he learns to settle in the running, he could be a very exciting individual.”

Resurrect will jump from the ace barrier draw again and comes up against a strong line up of runners which include the highly rated McCullum.
