Five At Headquarters

A busy day at Flemington awaits Ballymore on Saturday with five runners, all of whom on their best form look to be decent chances.

We kick off in the opening event with War Legend (pictured) who looks set to bounce back after enjoying a less than ideal run at Flemington a couple of weeks ago.

Prior to that an impressive Sandown winner, the three-year-old has drawn awkwardly out wide but has the services of the in-form Dwayne Dunn.

"He looks very well placed," Michael Moroney enthused. "He was pretty unlucky last start, he just got into the wrong part of the track."

Already a two times winner at Flemington, War Legend will be suited by the sting out of the ground.

Moroney concedes that favourite Euro Angel will be hard to beat in the final of the Rivette Series but is looking for a big run from Daniela Rosa.

"We would be happy to run second, but happier to win," he said.

"She should get a good run from the draw (barrier three) with the main query being the 1600m second up."

A dominant winner over 2500m at Flemington last month, Araldo Junior should again prove hard to toss in the Banjo Paterson Series Final.

Drawn nicely in barrier three for Jake Bayliss, the tough galloper "strikes his right race."

"He is up quickly in weight without the claim but he is a proven stayer."

"He has had a few issues leading into this but no more so than before his previous run which he won easily."

Rhythm To Spare is our runner in the day's feature, the Winter Championship Final. Should he put his best hoof forward he is a leading contender but Moroney has been disappointed with his recent performances.

"He has been well below his best but we have tried a few things, he has been schooled and he has a couple of gear changes. His bloods are good and he is working nicely."

Sound Works faces her toughest test in the A.R Creswick Series final, the stable keen to chase black type with the promising daughter of Not A Single Doubt.

"It is her first run down the straight but she trialled there as a two-year-old and won impressively so she has had a bit of practice. We are throwing her in the deep end but she has always shown good ability."

Meanwhile in Sydney we have Sapphire Of Patch topweight in the ATC Heritage Society Handicap.

The imported galloper has not shown a great deal in his two runs for us but we are looking for an improved showing up to 2400m.

"This is his right distance and he gets his chance to turn things around."
