Dual Runners Travel to the Winterless North

Rising Son (pictured) and You Are Amazing will be the only NZ runners tomorrow, while both will be contesting the Rating 65 event over 1600m at Ruakaka.

Rising Son has battled his last couple of outings and should find good improvement with the better footing expected.

“He hasn’t lived up to what we know he can produce and he probably hasn’t handled the wetter tracks as well as we thought, so we are hopeful the Ruakaka track will give him the surface he needs,” co-trainer Pam Gerard said.

“He’s as honest as the day is long and deserves to win a nice race. If he can bring his bet on Saturday, he should be competitive.”

Rising Son will be ridden by inform rider Shaun McKay, while the barrier draw of 15 has made it very awkward and will need plenty of luck to gain a nice position in the running.

The second runner for the race is You Are Amazing who has always been a tough case to crack, but with conditions to suit, and her work being as good as ever, she can really give this field a shake if she turns up.

“This mare shows us plenty at home, but can’t seem to put it together out on the track. We have changed some gear and her work has been great ever since, so we hope she can show her best.”

You Are Amazing has drawn barrier four and will be ridden by Michael Coleman.
