Soul Sista Ready To Step Up!

Five-year-old daughter of champion sire Pentire, Soul Sista (pictured), has not only proven she is in the form of her career, but can seriously compete against the best of her class on premier meetings and she will be out to prove that tomorrow night at Ellerslie.

Unlucky to be held up in the straight at her last outing over 1600m at Tauranga, Soul Sista is primed to make the step up to 2100m and the team feel she is only going to relish the distance.

“We’ve been wanting to step her up to 2000M+ but we just haven’t found the right race until the Ellerslie meeting,” co-trainer Chard Ormsby said.

“In saying that, she has been very competitive at the mile and she is racing out of her skin at the moment.”

“She doesn’t always get the rub of the green, and she can do things wrong, but she is in great form and will be a good chance in a strong field.”

Prior to her luckless fourth at Tauranga, Soul Sista went down by the narrowest of margins in a $50,000 event on Boxing Day and will again have the services of Sam Collett who appears to get on well with the mare.

Soul Sista will jump from barrier nine and will likely look to take a midfield position being her first attempt over the 2100m distance.
