Mister Impatience tackles Wellington Cup

The New Zealand team will have a relatively quiet weekend with only one runner, but it’s a good one, with Queensland Cup winner Mister Impatience (pictured) lining up in the Group 2 Wellington Cup over 3200m at Trentham on Saturday.

To be ridden by big race rider Sam Spratt, who partnered the six-year-old in the Group 2 City of Auckland Cup, Mister Impatience steps up to the preferred 3200m trip and has drawn ideally in barrier six.

“They probably just go a touch quick for him over the shorter distances, so the 3200m is right up his alley, and there is no doubting his staying ability,” co-trainer Chad Ormsby said.

“We hope to be somewhere handy and in the open. He needs to get rolling, and he can’t afford to be held up when making his run, but Sam (Spratt) knows him and she suits him well.”

The winner of over $200,000 in stakes, Mister Impatience will carry a luxurious 52.5kg, and providing the track isn’t too firm, should be very competitive.
