Back From The Gold Coast

Back from a busy week at the Gold Coast, where he and Paul added a lovely group of five well related yearlings to Ballymore Stables, Michael Moroney is looking forward to gearing up for a busy summer and autumn carnival.

This week is a relatively quiet one though the two runners we have - Lord Disick (pictured) at Canterbury on Wednesday and Courageous Rock at Sale on Thursday - both look to have decent chances.

Impressive saluting at Class 1 level last time out, Lord Disick takes his place in the All Too Hard Handicap in Sydney and from barrier eight with Christian Reith aboard he is primed to run another good race.

"It's a tougher race than last time," Michael said, "but he is going really well and providing there is a bit of speed in the race he should again prove hard to beat."

A son of Pentire from an outstanding international family whose members include the Epsom Derby hero Dr Devious and the successful stallion Archway, Lord Disick has always shown good ability and at four is racing into career best form.

Drawn nicely in barrier three for Steven Arnold, Courageous Rock lines up in Thursday's David Wilson Handicap over 1736m.

A game fourth after covering a bit of ground at Sandown last time out, the imported five-year-old has had a little set back since that early December run but he has been working well with the addition of blinkers.

"He has been quite sharp in his work with them on," Moroney said, looking for a bold showing from the son of Rock Hard Ten.
