Runners for Benalla & Sandown

Being a relatively quiet week ahead, yet exciting times with several Autumn carnival hopefuls gearing up for strong campaigns, Ballymore will present two runners on Monday and Wednesday with Rising Stock looking to kick things off at Benalla over 1400m.

The four-year-old son of Tavistock resumed with a tough run first up which saw him do plenty of work in the early stages, although battled home gallantly under the top weight of 60kg to finish in fifth position.

The wide draw again won’t aide his chances, but will have the services of apprentice jockey Ben Allen who brings a 2kg claim to the table. If he is able to slot in the running with some cover, and not have to do too much, he is sure to make his presence felt in that field.

The second runner will be the very promising Trendsetter, who at times has looked a top class stayer, but continues to let small things get in the way of his true potential and ability. His winning run at Cranbourne three starts back illustrates the horse’s ability and why the Ballymore team have thought so highly of him.

Trendsetter lines up in the R70 Handicap over 2400m at Sandown on Wednesday and will have the services of apprentice jockey Jake Bayliss who gives Trendsetter a 3kg claim.

On his day Trendsetter is certainly one very promising individual, and should he illustrate his potential, he will be a very good chance.
