Too Much Soul for this Sista

A deserved maiden win came at her last preparation, and now is a galloper full of promise heading into the next – Soul Sista showed she has come back every bit a better and stronger individual as she cruised away to claim her second career victory at Tauranga on Saturday in the Rating 65 event over 1400m.

Having finished midfield at her fresh-up start, after not receiving one stride of galloping room down the Avondale straight, Soul Sista was ridden assertively by jockey Craig Grylls, who was determined not to let luck play a role, and drove through the field at the top of the straight proving too good for her opposition.

“She missed the start which pushed plan A out the door, but full credit to Craig, he rode her like the best horse in the race and she was,” co-trainer Chad Ormsby said.

“We’ve been blown away with just how well she has come back this time in, and I think she will finally live up to expectations and reward her owners who have been very patient – she’s a horse that hasn’t had much luck throughout her career.”

Soul Sista was a Karaka yearling purchase by Ballymore’s appointed bloodstock agent Paul Moroney, and time appears to have been on her side with the mare looking strong, mature and full of running.

Ballymore NZ have celebrated five individual winners during the month of October, while the Australian team recorded a further six – making for a good month overall!
