A Caulfield Rhythm

Rhythm To Spare is our main runner this weekend, the talented six-year-old to take his place in the Fight Cancer Foundation Handicap, the second race on a strong Caulfield card.

To be ridden by Jake Bayliss from barrier two, the Pins gelding was pleasing without being stunning first up but he has worked nicely since.

Proven at Caulfield and at the 1400m, Rhythm To Spare will be suited by the dry conditions.

"We are very happy with him," Michael Moroney said, adding that "with the good gate he can be a big improver."

We also have a runner at the Ararat meeting on Friday, Arbitrage making his debut in a 1300m maiden with Jake Noonan aboard.

"He is a nice colt," Moroney said of the son of Rip Van Winkle, "but he may just need a bit more time. His jump-outs have been okay without being outstanding."

Loyalty Man is a three-year-old we have always had plenty of time for and he really caught the eye with a barnstorming second over 1200m at Pakenham earlier in the month.

Suited up to the 1400m of the Hurdy Gurdy Man Maiden Plate at Ballarat on Sunday, the Fastnet Rock gelding has his hoof firmly on the till.

"He was terrific first up," said Moroney, "though he didn't do everything 100% right - so we have added the blinkers."

"He does not have to improve mark to prove hard to beat."
