We take three nice horses to the local races on Saturday - Bonnie Belle, About Square and Yesterday's Songs all looking nice chances at the Flemington meeting.

Due to take her place in a heat of the Rivette Series, Bonnie Belle has the services of Glen Boss and Michael Moroney is looking for a big run from the promising three-year-old.

"It's a stronger race than what she contested first up but she really pleased us that day and the longer trip is going to suit her better."

Getting a fair way back over 1205m when resuming at Sale late last month, the daughter of Keeper caught the eye with a strong late finish and the 1400m on Saturday looks ideal.

Winning her maiden over that same trip in New Zealand last spring, Bonnie Belle is a filly who has always displayed good potential.

To be ridden by Dwayne Dunn in the Rod Johnson Handicap, About Square (pictured) is a horse who has raced well down the Flemington straight - and he looks set to run well at his first outing since the spring.

Boasting an excellent first up record, the Refuse To Bend five-year-old is in good condition this time in, Michael Moroney noting that "he is going really well - and he should prove pretty hard to beat."

Tackling a heat of the Winter Championship series, Yesterday's Song is looking to bounce back from an unplaced run as favourite on a tricky track at Moonee Valley last weekend.

"He over-raced badly from an outside gate - he just couldn't get any cover and wanted to pull his head off," Moroney explained.

Still far from disgraced after an excellent run in the Gr.1 Goodwood Handicap at his previous outing, the lightly raced and talented four-year-old has drawn barrier two this time - Damien Oliver again to ride.

"He should get a better run from that gate and we are hopeful that he can turn things right around."

We also have a runner at Newcastle on Saturday, The Bunsta lining up in a 1400m maiden - and looking well placed at that trip after finishing off strongly for a last start Kembla Grange second over 1200m.

Fitter for that run, his first since November, the Pentire four-year-old has pleased us with his work since.

"He was strong to the line first up - in another stride he would've won. He has trained on well and we expect him to prove hard to beat."

Sunday is a quieter day for the stable with just the one runner, Lord Barrington heading to Warrnambool to contest a 1200m Showcase event.

A pleasing first up third over 1000m at Ballarat a few weeks ago, he is another horse nicely placed up in distance and the prospects of another wet track is music to our ears!

"He loves wet ground," Moroney said, "and he was very good first up."

"He raced as though looking for more ground that day and he gets it on Sunday."
