Misty Waters To Atone

We are hoping for a change of luck for the talented Misty Waters when she contests one of Saturday's feature events, the Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes at Morphettville.

Parting ways with her rider very early in the running of the Listed Dequetteville Stakes a couple of weeks ago Misty Waters(pictured) shifted out abruptly, a great disappointment for us and for punters who sent her out an odds-on

favourite.

But from a better gate this time - the jump-and-run filly well suited in barrier two - Misty Waters looks set to atone in the 1050m contest.

"We have no idea why she did what she did," Michael Moroney admitted, "but we have not been able to fault her since and she is better off from an inside gate."

"Hopefully she can turn it all around and earn herself some valuable black type."

Also running in Adelaide is Yesterday's Songs who has also drawn well - barrier one - in the Gr.3 D.C McKay Stakes.

Swamping his rivals when winning in impressive fashion first up at Geelong a few weeks ago, the promising four-year-old has progressed nicely since.

"He is up in class but it doesn't look a really strong Group race," Moroney said.

"He has drawn nicely and he looks a good light-weight chance."

Meanwhile in New South Wales Surpass kicks off a winter campaign in the Gr.3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

In good form in New Zealand over the summer, the Savabeel gelding is being set for the Brisbane carnival.

"I would expect that the mile will prove just too short for him," Moroney said.

"His main chance is if the track is so heavy that it makes it a very demanding 1600m race."

"We just hope the meeting does go ahead as he needs the run before he heads to Queensland."

Rising Stock is our other Saturday runner, due to line up at Seymour.

Unfortunately has again drawn out wide but after being scratched a couple of times due to bad gates he is overdue a run.

"I think we will just have to take our chances with him this time," said Moroney, adding that the three-year-old is suited up to 1600m.

"We are stepping him up distance and adding ear muffs to his gear."

"He has just wanted to over-race a bit but he trialled well at Werribee with them on and he only has to relax more to prove a good chance."

Hopefully our weekend kicks off with a winner as we have The Hotz heading to the Friday night meeting at Cranbourne - the five-year-old another suited up in distance.

Taking his place in the second heat of the Sky Heights Stayers Series over 2080m, The Hotz has drawn out wide at each of his last three starts but this time jumps from barrier four.

"He has finally drawn a decent gate and he strips hard fit - he should prove hard to beat."
