Three State Attack!

There is classy racing around the country on Saturday and Ballymore will be in the thick of things in three states with runners at Caulfield, Morphettville and Randwick.

Kicking off our busy day is the tough and talented Devonshire Duke who takes his place in the second event at Caulfield, the Racing Victoria Off The Track Plate.

Game after doing early work stepping up to 2000m at Mornington late last month, the six-year-old had been racing in good form in Sydney previously and with 52.5kg after Patrick Moloney's claim he looks very well in.

"He has a luxury weight," Michael Moroney said, noting that "the field weakened off after acceptances so it looks a good race for him."

"He is going well and any amount of rain about on Friday would help him."

The fourth race, the owner.racing.com Handicap sees Marwood return to the city off the back of a stunning first up victory at Warrnambool a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately he has drawn out very wide with the stable still tossing up whether to run... "we will keep our options open," Moroney said.

Our speedy two-year-old Misty Waters who has been so impressive winning her first two starts at Sandown and Moonee Valley will be seeking black type in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes at Morphettville.

And we could not be more pleased with her.

"She has trained on very well, we can't fault her," Moroney reported, adding that whilst she has drawn out at 12 "there is only one turn in the 1050m races at Morphettville and she has enough early speed to get across."

Noting that the topweight Thurlow was going to be the one to beat, Moroney was not unhappy to see that horse scratched on Friday, leaving Misty Waters well and truly "the one to beat."

Merion (pictured) is also competing at stakes level on the weekend, due to line up in the Gr.3 Frank Packer Plate at Randwick.

Game when stepping up to 2000m in the Gr.2 Tulloch Stakes in late March, Merion was beaten by two horses who subsequently ran very well in the Derby - including that race's runner-up Hauraki.

"He is really well and he has drawn nicely again which is a big help," Moroney said.

"He has the class to shine through in a race like this."

Zazparella was terrific sharing the prize at Sandown last start and she looks ready to go right on with it in Sunday's Terang Cup.

To jump from the inside barrier for Patrick Moloney, the Al Maher mare is ready to run another bold race, Moroney noting that "once she strikes form she tends to hold it."
