Linton is streets ahead!

A great performance by the lightly raced Linton Street to win the Lavazzo A Modo Mio at Flemington on Tuesday, the four-year-old always travelling well before racing away to a 1.5 length victory over his far more experienced rivals.

Having his first run at metropolitan levle - and sneaking into the field at the last minute as emergency - the exciting bay relished the 2800m, giving jockey Chris Symons plenty of reasons to smile on Cup Day.

"He gave me a really good feel," he enthused, "and it would not surprise me if he is back here next year in the Cup."

High praise indeed but no surprise to the stable, Michael Moroney always having a good opinion of the son of Danroad.

"We were keen for him to get a run in this race," Moroney said - "and it is lucky he made it in. He has been a slow maturing type but he is a lovely big staying type."

Contratulations go to Linton Street's owners including manager Rohan Aujard whose promising three-year-old King Pulse went so close to Gr.1 success on Saturday.

He was very excited to have won a race on Australia's biggest race day.

"You don't get too many bigger thrills than this!" He said. "It is very exciting - there is nothing better than winning a race on Cup day - especially at 60-1!"

Rohan is enjoying a good run with the stable and Moroney is happy to have him aboard. "He is really enthusiastic and he loves the game - it is good to see him win these nice races."
