Flemington Trio

We are looking forward to a nice day at headquarters on Saturday, our horses always appreciating racing on their home track.

We saddle up three Flemington runners, the first of whom is Sunset Magic who takes her place in the second event, the Dover Handicap over 2000m.

Drawn nicely in barrier five for Patrick Moloney, Sunset Magic has been solid at her two runs over shorter trips this time in and she looks nicely primed for her return to 2000m.

"We have been really happy with her," Michael Moroney reported.

"She meets a strong lot but she strips close to her best and looks a nice each-way chance."

Contesting race four, the Leonard Handicap, Zazparella is having her first run since late August.

Whilst her first up statistics do not read well, Moroney feels that the five-year-old is capable of running well fresh.

"She has not had a lot of luck at her first up runs so you cannot read a lot into her record," he explained.

"She will improve upon whatever she shows but she has come back well - she is fully mature now and in for a good season. She is not without a place chance."

Garud (pictured), who lines up in the following race, the Piping Lane Handicap, is another horse in fine fettle this campaign.

A strong winner of the Woodford Cup at only his second outing since last winter, the son of High Chaparral is even better suited up to the 2000m of Saturday's race.

"We can't fault him," Moroney enthused, "his work has been terrific and he is really going in the right direction this time in."

"He has a bit of a tricky draw in a small field but we might try to sneak forward and get a bit of cover. If he can do that he will prove hard to beat again."
