New Zealand Bloodstock's second-tier Select yearling session regularly produces better racetrack results that the Premier book with the predominantly Kiwi-raised youngsters from supposedly lesser pedigrees providing many of the standout individuals on athletic type during sale week.
We found this quality colt among Westbury's record draft and he simply exuded class and poise from the time he walked from the barn and presented for inspection. He simply commanded attention from his bold head, bright eye and striking stance to his purposeful, head to tail, rolling gait.
While he's by Postponed who, through the likes of G1 winners Dorabella, Pasta Post and Postman's Daughter, is a capable sire, we see a strong Zabeel influence in his make-up and that champion stallion appears as the sire of the colt's second dam, the four times Group and stakes-placed Zaroyale. A half brother to this season's Bonecrusher Stakes and Wanganui Guineas runner-up Burnt Orange, we are also impressed by his genetic mix with the blood of Danzig, Mr Prospector, Northern Dancer, Secretariat, Sir Tristram, Star Kingdom (via Kaoru Star) and Vain - the best of both hemispheres - blending in the fourth generation. A Guineas colt if we ever saw one.
