Monaco Consul contests Gr.1

Stable star Monaco Consul, in good shape after a set-back, is due to contest Saturday's Gr.1 Darci Brahma International Stakes at Te Rapa.

Unplaced at his most recent outing in the Zabeel Classic, Monaco Consul has been given a short break and couple of weeks on the water walker.

"He jarred up through the shoulder," said Michael Moroney who has been pleased with his progress since.

"We are happy with him now, he has been working well. He had a good gallop last Friday and went straight as a dye. He was sound and his action was great."

"He's back on track and unless his blood comes back abnormal it's all systems go for the Group One on Saturday.”

Leith Innes will take the ride in the 2000m weight-for-age event in which Monaco Consul has drawn perfectly in barrier four.

Saturday is also a big day for us in Melbourne - the promising three-year-old Viking Hero having his second run back from a spell, having performed so well first up. He takes his place in the Gr.1 Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley.

High class mare Divine Rebel continues her Australia Cup campaign in the Gr.2 Sunline Stakes whilst I Robot and Spontaneous will also race on Saturday. Good luck to all connections.
