The premature sale of former shuttle sire Mastercraftsman's early last year was a major blow for the New Zealand breeding industry, proven when from his first European crop of 3yos he sired both French Derby winner The Grey Gatsby and English St Leger winner Kingston Hill.

We saw Derby potential in this colt at Karaka Premier, this one from a G1 winner nurtured at Ballymore in the shape of The Mighty Lions, an Avondale Cup (G1) winner in NZ and a Group performer in Australia as well who has already produced a Classic placegetter, the Queensland Oaks placed Vaquera.

We loved the way this colt moved, extending in front and rolling his shoulders forward with the poise of a Blue Riband colt.
