It's rare for the progeny of outstanding European racemares to appear in yearling sale catalogues Down Under but the burgeoning international flavour of breeding and racing thesedays throws up a smorgasbord of hitherto unlikely options. We found one that ticked a number of boxes for our client base to invest in a potential racing and stallion prospect when securing a Golden Slipper/Magic Millions juvenile prospect at the Gold Coast sale, a powerfully made colt by champion sire Fastnet Rock from the brilliant English speed mare Imperial Beauty, winner and also runner-up consecutively of the French sprint championship the Longchamp Prix de LÁbbaye (G1). A stakes winning juvenile in England and also runner-up in that country's major 2yo fillies test, the Newmarket Cheveley Stakes (G1), Imperial Beauty held her form at the top level through four seasons on the racetrack.

Her mating with Fastnet Rock is an intriguing blend of global speed lines and replicates a most successful Danehill x Sadler's Wells cross through Fastnet Rock (by Danehill) and Imperial Beauty's sire Imperial Ballet (by Sadler's Wells). Fastnet Rock needs no introduction as an outstanding sire influence while this colt's distaff line introduces a highly successful Northern Hemisphere source of class and speed. Imperial Beauty has two other stakes performed siblings including the 2013 North American G3 placegetter Gulsary and this is the family of recent European G1 winners Jan Vermeer (at 2) and Together and also of top North American racehorse and successsful sire Ancient Times.

We thought this colt was very much a get up and run type an ideal to set for the 2014 Magic Millions Classic and Golden Slipper Stakes and success at that and/or Group level at 2 and 3 would see him become a highly valuable sire prospect.
