WINNING WEDNESDAY CHANCES

Two runners for us Sandown today with Opoho Dreaming and Meteor Light taking part on the Hillside course.

Last start winner Opoho Dreaming will be the first to go in race one, the Benchmark 70 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1500m with Jordan Childs to ride from barrier one.

Opho Dreaming won over heavy ground at Wodonga earlier this month and has progressed since according to Mike Moroney.

“She’s done well and has improved - she did a good job to win last start as she was first-up,” Moroney said.

“She should be fine on the ground today and although this is obviously a step up in grade it will tell us where she sits in the order of things.

She raced on the speed last start and she’s drawn one here so ideally she will be handy and depending on how the inside rail is racing I’m sure she will give a good account of herself.”

Meteor Light (pictured) runs in the sixth race, a Benchmark 70 Handicap over 2400m with Michael Poy riding from barrier six and his claim reducing the weight to 60.5kg.

Meteor Light is racing consistently and has pleased Moroney since his last start fourth on the Hillside course at Sandown.

“He’s holding his condition well and he’s trained on very well,” Moroney said.

“The scratchings have helped and although he has drawn out I think he should be able to get across and lead.

“Our horse is tough and fit and provided the inside is going to be that place to be as he loves racing on the lead then I think he will be hard to beat.”
