TWO RUNNERS AT PAKENHAM ON THURSDAY NIGHT

Lady Concetta and Touch A Cloud are our runners at the Pakenham night meeting on Thursday.

Lady Concetta is the first to go in race four, the Open Maiden Plate over 1600m with Patrick Moloney to ride.

The three-year-old daughter of Tavistock made up ground on debut when fifth over 1450m at Kyneton and Mike Moroney said the favourable barrier is in her favour.

“She’s drawn nicely and we will aim to let her flow along to take advantage of that,” Moroney said.

“I think she will be better off settling into her own rhythm on this bigger track.

“It appears a stronger class of opposition than what she met first start but she has improved for the experience and the slightly longer trip will suit her.

“She is still quite green and has a bit to learn and while I think she will improve off whatever she does here I’m still expecting her to run a nice race.”

Touch A Cloud (pictured) runs for the second time this preparation in race seven, the Fillies & Mares Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1200m with Patrick Moloney to ride from barrier seven after scratchings.

“She’s drawn one from the outside which I don’t see as a major problem as it will allow her to go forward at her own speed rather than be dug up to hold a spot,” Moroney said.

“It looks as there is only one other that will go forward and she is like Glass Harmonium in that she is better if she can lead and relax.

“She’s taken good improvement from that first-up run and if she can get across at her own speed and get a soft lead then I think she can run a much better race.”
